LIQUID MISTRESS – Siren Craft Brew – £2.95
Liquid Mistress is a beautiful ruby beer. It pours with a deep reddish body and boasts a persistent off white frothy head. The aroma of is of distinct biscuit and rye mixture that gives way to more of a fruity peach or grapefruit. The taste does not differ greatly from the aroma and hints at toasted malt, citrus fruits and grass in the mix. We think that the balanced bitterness of this works nicely with the residual sweetness from the malt giving a nice dry finish. 5.8% ABV.
WOLFIE SMITH URBAN GUERILLA – By The Horns – £2.90
This beer has quite a legal story behind it after an angry actor got a little annoyed about being on the label. One quick gorilla edit later and all it good. Whilst the label has changed, the content remains the same and as good as ever. This is a strong amber ale that is infused with a light caramel sweetness. We also got a fruity tropical hint of citrus on tasting. Well balanced bitterness with a crisp finish.
HOOK ISLAND RED – The Five Points Brewing Co. – £2.85
The Five Points Hook Island Red is a red rye ale brewed with Chinook, Simcoe and Columbus, making this quite a hop based brew. You can expect unusual flavours of dark cherries, dried currants, black pepper and spiced plum. It’d be delicious all year round, but especially as a winter warmer.
AMBER ALE – Fourpure Brewing Co. – £2.50
This is a balanced beer with a warm complex malt flavour lending some sweetness. It uses just enough Cascade and Palisade for an exciting flavour and aroma to develop. We love the way it has such a light taste despite being a reasonable strength at 5.1%.
